Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation Board Meeting Highlights – January 14
On January 14, at 6 PM, the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Education Foundation Board convened in the Board Room for an important session filled with collaborative spirit and community-focused initiatives.
The meeting commenced with a warm welcome extended to Dr. Tony Vasquez, who was introduced as the newest member of the Education Foundation Board. Dr. Vasquez’s addition brings a wealth of experience and insight, and the board is excited to harness his expertise in advancing educational initiatives within the district.
One of the most significant outcomes from the meeting was the board's unanimous decision to explore the organization of the first annual bowling tournament. This event, set to take place in April, aims to leverage the board's recent designation as a non-profit organization. The date of the tournament will be determined soon, and it promises to be a fun-filled occasion that will not only foster community engagement but also raise funds for educational programs and resources within the district.
In another commendable effort, the board unanimously approved participation in the LFCISD Coins for California Campaign. This initiative aims to support the victims of the devastating wildfires that recently affected California. Proceeds collected through this campaign will be donated to the American Red Cross, ensuring that aid reaches those in dire need during this challenging time.
The meeting concluded with the board scheduling its next session for February 3, where they will continue to discuss further initiatives and strategies to enhance educational opportunities and community involvement within the Los Fresnos CISD.
The January meeting exemplified the board's commitment to proactive engagement and dedication to the welfare of both the local and broader community, setting a positive tone for the upcoming months.
Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation Joins “Coins For California” Effort
The Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation is supporting the fundraiser, “Coins for California,” aimed at supporting victims of the devastating California wildfires. It’s a partnership with Los Fresnos CISD and the Rotary Club of Los Fresnos that invites the community to contribute monetary donations to help provide immediate relief and long-term recovery for those impacted by the fires.
The “Coins for California” campaign will run from Monday, January 13, to Wednesday, February 13. Donations will be collected at all Los Fresnos CISD campuses, with all proceeds being directed to the American Red Cross. The Red Cross is providing critical emergency assistance, shelter, food, and other vital services to those affected by the devastating fires.
The Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation is committed to enhancing the success of the campaign and maximizing its impact. “We are honored to assist the District with this initiative,” said Lidia Garcia, Vice-Chair of the Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation. “Our goal is to unite the Los Fresnos community and inspire students to make a meaningful difference.”
The Los Fresnos CISD Education Foundation has worked closely with the district and American Red Cross to promote the campaign and encourage students and families to participate. This effort not only provides a way for the community to help those in need but also aligns with the district's commitment to developing compassionate, service-oriented students.
“We’re teaching our students the importance of giving back, which is such a powerful lesson,” said Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, Superintendent of Los Fresnos CISD. “By participating in this campaign, our students will be able to see firsthand the impact of their generosity and learn the value of serving others.”
